The Youth Development Program is an introduction for our younger athletes to Junior Olympic/Competitive Volleyball.  This program is open to 4th & 5th grade athletes in the Blaine High School attendance area.

The Youth Development Program teams are taught advanced fundamentals and skills through positive, structured practices and increased competition and play. Players are reminded of the value of hard work, commitment, communication, and teamwork. 

The Youth Development Program season runs approximately from the beginning of December to the beginning of March, with playdates beginning in January.  Each Youth Development Program team will have 1-2 practices per week and 4 playdates.

TEAM FORMATION

There will be a Team Formation day on Sunday, October 27th, 8:00am - 10:30am at Blaine High School.  Your athlete must be at the Team Formation day to be assigned to a team.  Depending on the number of interested athletes, the team formation day may need to be a tryout, where some athletes are not assigned to a team.  This is unfortunate but because of limited practice facilities it is something we may have to implement.  The Blaine Juniors Volleyball coaching staff will form teams based on age and abilities. Team rosters will most likely include 10 athletes and 2 coaches. 

We will have the following levels of Youth Development Program teams for the 24-25 season.  Some teams may be comprised of athletes from various grades.

• YDT 4th grade

• YDT 5th grade

• YDT 6th grade, for those not interested in competitive JO volleyball

REGISTRATION

There will be two registrations based on the level you wish your athlete to compete at.  Be sure to register at the correct link:

• Youth Development Program: 4th - 5th grade, and 6th graders that are not interested in playing competitive JO volleyball at the 12's level

• 12's: 6th grade (all 6th graders who do not make the 12's team will be placed on a YDT team if they wish)

• 14's: 7th & 8th grade

• 16's: 9th & 10th grade

According to USAV rules, we will follow these age classification guidelines for the upcoming season:  USA Volleyball Junior Player Age Definition

• 16 and under - born on or after July 1, 2008 (or 9th - 10th grade for local events only)
• 14 and under - born on or after July 1, 2010 (or 7th - 8th grade for local events only)
• 12 and under - born on or after July 1, 2012 (or 6th grade for local events only)
• YDT - born on or after July 1, 2012 (or 4th - 6th grade for local events only)
